  Choosing the Best Townhouse

There are 598 townhouses at Regal Palms. How do you choose the one that is best for you? The following tips will help you decide.

  Floor Plan
  • The townhouses are in blocks of 4, 5 or 6 houses. They all have one of the following 4 basic floorplans:
     
    • 3 Bedroom 2.5 Bathroom - Inner - 1457 sq ft - Antigua
    • 3 Bedroom 3 Bathroom - Inner - 1492 sq ft - Cayman
    • 4 Bedroom 3 Bathroom - Inner - 1492 sq ft - Jamaica
    • 4 Bedroom 3.5 Bathroom - End unit - 1856 sq ft - Bermuda
       
  • Ian's Villa is one of the Bermuda end units. Therefore it has 25% more space than any of the other units.
     
  • The difference in rental prices between the 3 and 4 bedroom units is very small. Ian's villa is very competitively priced and is the same cost as many of the 3 bedroom houses. In fact, some 3 bedroom units are more expensive. Why be squashed together, when you can spread out for the same cost?
     
  • A 0.5 bathroom is a room with a toilet and washbasin, but no bath.
     
  • Note: adjectives like 'Executive', 'Luxury', 'Premium' are commonly and freely used in Regal Palms ads for any of the homes and have little significance in distinguishing between properties. However, the term 'Elite' indicates one of a small number of houses that were originally finished to a higher specification, e.g. they have granite worktops.
  Furnishings and Equipment
  • Originally, when the properties were first built (from 2004 on), all the units tended to have much the same furnishings. As time has progressed, replacement through wear and tear and new owners moving in mean that the houses are now developing different styles and characters. When researching the villas, look for upgrades. Ian's Villa was extensively upgraded in May 2014, and more improvements are planned.
     
  • Mattresses are very important, as you will want a good night's sleep. The original mattresses in townhouses are now about 7 years old and are relatively thin. Ian's Villa has a complete set of new 12 inch thick pillowtop mattresses, new in May 2014. The bedding and towels are also new.
     
  • The living rooms originally had a carpet, but after 7 years they start to show wear. They are difficult to keep clean and stains are difficult to remove. Upgraded houses have removed the carpet. Some have gone for ceramic tiles, which are good in the kitchen and bathrooms, but tend to be rather 'hard' and cold in a living room. Ian's villa has a new attractive wood laminate floor in the living/dining room which is 'warmer' and very easy to keep clean.
     
  • Some houses still have the old analogue TVs. Ian's Villa not only has a 60 inch smart flat screen HDTV in the living room, each of the 4 bedrooms has a 32 or 39 inch flat screen HDTV too.
     
  • UK guests can enjoy around 100 UK TV channels via an internet-delivered service. You can watch live or time shift to allow for the 5 hour time difference. No need to miss your favourite programmes or sport!
     
  • There is a PlayStation 3 video console and a selection of 9 games to suit various ages.
     
  • The bedrooms have room-darkening curtains as well as blinds. Most properties only have blinds.
     
  • Both twin bedrooms have ceiling fans. Most other units only have fans in the King and Queen bedrooms and living room.
     
  • Ian's Villa has a PC and printer, which despite being a key part of everyday life, is still a rarity in Regal Palms townhouses. You can research where to go, check opening times, get directions, order food 'to go', check your emails, and for your journey home, check-in online and print your boarding pass. Plus you get free fast WIFI (over 30Mb/s) throughout the house and outside it.
